With pilot wiped film distillers, a substantial decrease of boiling temperature is obtained by reducing the operating pressure. It is a continuous process with very short residence time. The VTA pilot wiped film distillers are utilized to process small product quantities that enable a later scale up to an industrial system. A proper and reliable test can easily be performed with an amount of crude material as low as 30 kg. It can handle material with a maximum viscosity of 100,000 mPas (cP) at operating temperature.
